MATT YORIO | PARTNER

Fueled by a lifetime dream of working in the dynamic and constantly evolving music industry, Matt Yorio moved to Los Angeles from a small town in Upstate New York. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Political Science and a Music Industry Minor, Yorio continued his pursuit of higher education and went on to graduate from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Communications Management and Strategic Public Relations.

Yorio began his career in the music industry in the marketing department of AEG Live, a global leader in live event promotion. During this time, he assisted the Marketing Department by preparing work orders for current Los Angeles shows and tours, reviewed ad buys, social media postings, and overall promotion tactics for Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour, Jamie Foxx, Stagecoach, and Coachella.

After acquiring concert promotion skills from some of the best in the industry, Yorio joined the team at Universal Music Group in their Market Research and Business Analysis Departments to gain insight into the record label process from the world’s largest record label. At Universal Music Group, Yorio contributed to campaigns that impacted the decision to release NeYo’s new music as part of a deluxe album; as well as analyzing the public response of Taylor Swift’s album, Speak Now, as a follow up to the multi-platinum selling Fearless.

While working at UMG, Yorio honed his passion within the music industry, and ultimately decided to move into personal representation to pursue a career with long term artist development. He joined the team at MLC PR and began working as the assistant to the President, Mona Loring. Yorio quickly climbed through the ranks while gaining invaluable experience and fostering priceless relationships in music, TV and film. Later, as a publicist, he made it his mission to build on a foundation of cross-media experience and cutting edge practices to expand the music division at MLC PR. Yorio used his unique combination of formal education and hands on training from industry trailblazers to expand the music roster with both developing and established artists. His deep understanding of the ever-evolving media landscape and unparalleled relationships have lead to multiple Grammy Award wins for his clients, millions of Spotify plays, and lucrative brand partnerships. In the trend setting spirit that began his career, Yorio took advantage of the growing popularity of social media platforms to expand beyond the traditional music realm and develop some of their most recognizable faces on the Internet. Acknowledging the need for a global reach, Yorio set off to expand the firm’s international presence with the opening of the London based office.

After nearly a decade at MLC PR, Yorio left the firm to launch Elite PR with fellow partner, Nilda Carrazana. What began as a leap of faith for Yorio, later became a meaningful career with a reputation formulated by experience, passion, and ambition.
